New year brings strong candidates for new style queens of 2012!
We have been gushing and fussing about Hailee Steinfeld and Elizabeth Olsen all around the year – arguably the style queens of 2011. They will remain style A-listers but we are so excited to see new seeds in the fashion hall of fame for 2012. The ones with the whole package: great sense of style with a bit of ‘tude!
#1 Felicity Jones
The Brit beauty has actually been acting since the nineties. This year, she comes back with a big bang in an indie movie, ‘Like Crazy’. Next year alone, the busy bee has 6 movies in line for her. The fashion industry loves her just as much with a stunning D&G Spring 2012 makeup contract to boot.
Style-wise, the media can’t get enough of her chameleon look – she has continually amused the paparazzi lenses with various hairdo – messy, letdown, bun, herringbone braids, you name it. Her gorgeous, classic features makes her a stylists favourite – she can pull off both modern and 60′s styles effortlessly. Her stylist Paster Jones is now famous thanks to sophisticated Miss Jones.
Felicity Jones essentials: chestnut hair, classic smoky eyes, flares skirt/dress, buttoned-up white shirt, and sweetheart necklines
#2 Chloe Moretz
She is barely 14 yet she captivates the crowds with her attitude and of course, her impeccable acting skills. Chloe’s name first went under the limelight after her role as Hit Girl, the violet haired heroine in the superhero flick, Kick Ass in 2010.
Designers race to dress the mysterious young lady with piercing eyes for red carpets – from Proenza Schouler to Karl Lagerfeld, mind you. Chloe seems to like pattern and detail infusion in unfussy pieces – creating a modern look with a tinge of grunge.
Chloe Moretz’ essentials: fedora, tights and leggings, nude lipstick, stripe jumper, and sequin tee
#3 Emily Weiss
Before anything else is said, we would say Emily is one truly lucky girl – besides being utterly chic and hardworking, of course. In 2007, she interned at Teen Vogue. Her fashion dream continued with her experience at Vogue and W. She was recognized for her style and is now the editor of Into The Gloss, a much celebrated beauty blog.
Her style is the intersection between androgynous and feminine. She sports monotonous tailored suit ensemble and match it with red lips for a touch of femininity. On another occasion, she pairs biker jacket with a very feminine skirt. Her style is exciting to watch, reminding us that there is always a tough side within a girl’s delicate being.
Emily Weiss’ essentials: wide-legged pants, monotonous tailored pieces, biker jacket, sling bag, low boots, strappy heels, red lips
#4 Dree Hemingway
Yes, she is the descendant of THE Hemingway. His great-grandaughter, to be exact. Her promising modeling career started with a Givenchy debut back in 2009. The ballerina turned model turned socialite stuns with her messy locks.
Her style is grunge-inspired, with the balance principle in layering – feminine dress meets slouchy cover-ups. It is like seeing Parisian chic combined with the effortless Californian style. The combination runs smoothly in black, white, and grey ensembles.
Dree Hemingway essentials: slouchy jacket, black boots, big scarf, see-through tops, orange-red lipstick
#5 Rooney Mara
Mara started her acting career in 2005 but her big break came with the release of ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ as Lisbeth Salander, a young computer hacker. Mara was formerly known with her sweet long locks and she had it cut into an extreme pixie with blunt bangs.
Her style is utterly chic – with statement dresses, pale skin, and dark lips. Media everywhere has been gushing about her killer style. Telegraph says she is the “less try-hard version than Dita von Teese and has 90% of what it takes to be a real star” with her daring new look.
Rooney Mara essentials: cut-out dress, slick hair, oversized coat, dark lipstick, nude eye shadow, black on black ensemble, big scarf
