The winners
Two leading artists shine the brightest – Meryl Streep and Michelle Williams. They both won the Best Actress for different categories; Drama for Meryl and Musical/Comedy for Michelle.
This is such a thrill but really, really embarrassing in a year that saw so many extraordinary performances by women,” said Meryl in her speech (as quoted by The Herald Sun). Meryl did a highly-applauded portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady.
George Clooney must be the happiest man alive now that he has just brought home a Golden Globe trophy for Best Actor in a Drama from his movie, The Descendants beating out fellow actors Brad Pitt and Michael Fassbender for the title.
Black and white flick The Artist won 3 awards as well as the crowd’s hearts for Uggie the dog who starred in the movie – the celebrity pooch even showed his flamboyant actions on stage (including playing dead) during the thank you speech.
“Sit down everyone,” insisted Martin Scorsese who won Best Director for his movie Hugo. He credited his daughter for the initial idea of the movie, which was taken from a book.
Madonna won Best Original Song for Masterpiece from W.E., and The Adventures of Tintin was named Best Animated Feature Film.
Morgan Freeman was awarded with the Cecil B. Demille Award for his lifelong dedication and contribution to the movie industry.
