It’s a wonder how we can never stop eating when the festivities come round. Whether you’ve finally escaped the wrath of the Chinese New Year eating frenzy or not, you must have thought at some point or another that a little cleansing of the bowels was in order.
Here are two recipes that can help you clean yourself inside out:
Steamed Broccoli Soup (serves 4)
Ingredients:
12 decent-sized broccoli
1 avocado
½ red onion
2 celery sticks
2 handfuls of spinach
2 1″ root ginger
Seasoning:
Cumin, pepper, garlic, salt
Steam 12 decent-sized broccoli heads lightly for six minutes and then put in a blender with the avocado, red onion, celery sticks, two handfuls of spinach and the ginger. You can also add cumin to this mixture. Season the soup with pepper, garlic and salt and serve immediately. Because this recipe is very easy to prepare, the heat from the streamed broccoli will keep the soup warm. It will not only warm you but will give your soup a real zest.
Detox Juice
Ingredients:
6 carrots
250 g fresh spinach
2 handfuls flat leaf parsley
4 celery sticks
Juice carrots, 250 fresh spinach, flat leaf parsley and celery sticks in that order. Drink as is or mix with water. This recipe is good for 4 people.
