As Asian women, most of us are raised with the eastern values: women exist to comfort and care for men. Hence, sometimes we tell things just to make him happy. For men, most of the times, they tell white lies because they want to avoid confrontations (and our seemingly never-ending rants).

This is men’s way of appreciating your bare hands’ efforts. The fact that he would finish off the whole bowl of a salty curry, or a plate of a tad overcooked steak shows how they are willing to go the extra mile to make us feel proud. Thank him for showing some love, and ask for some constructive criticisms afterwards to get a more objective views.

2. ‘I think it’s better for you if I don’t come tonight, right?’

Some men feel awkward surrounded by many girls at once. And just like us girls, they need their me-time just as much. If you are aware of this issue, address it properly with your partner and make a mutual concession – how often you two should mingle with each other’s friends, and how often you should go out yourself and give each other some time out.

3. ‘No, I did not get drunk’

When we get into a relationship, most of the times it means cutting down on parties. We expect the same from our partners and it is plain normal.
