Since the airing of the reality tv show, Beauty Camp, that went live on national television last year, Andrea Fonseka has been popularly known as the Malaysian Tyra Banks. Undoubtedly, the show was a hit amongst Malaysians, and Andrea took on the role of the mentor and judge. All eyes were on her.
This former Miss Malaysia is also actively engaged in social media, allowing her fans to participate in the events of her everyday life via her Facebook page where she is listed as a public figure. This brings up a debatable issue – where does one draw the line between personal life and public life. Also, is she a role model or just a model? If so, what is an acceptable role model behavior and has she crossed the line?
While we want our local beauties to be opinionated and be “beyond beauty”, are we also too critical when it comes to them being opinionated?
Should a public figure show us her true self, speak her mind and lead the way when it comes to change, while using social media to rally the change OR should such public figures be careful about what they say on public profiles which have an influence on people that follow her or look up to her?

If Andrea is not a public figure, would this be any different?

crossed the line? ^^ RT @VenusBuzz: What is an acceptable role model behavior? What do you think? http://t.co/96weJKEP
have you heard of the story of why she broke up with her radio dj boyfriend after the pageant?
First of all, by putting the poll, you are already considering her as a legit role model where people should look up to.. A sane person will not take a model as a role model? Yes. exceptionally only models or wannabe-models takes successful models as their role models.. Other than that, who gives a crap of what she says? What more public opinions.. (MODELS, we’re only looking at their body) She’s trying to increase her publicity. Showing how much of a shallow blond she is, works for her.. We’ll then label her as that..
