With Rihanna & Coldplay duet, Adele’s comeback, and a ‘leaner’ Grammy categories – we fill you in with Grammy buzz, just 2 days before D-Day!

Come Monday (Sunday in the US), music industry is celebrating the legendary music night on its 54th anniversary. Adele is undoubtedly the shining lady with 6 nominations in hand, including THE Album of the Year. And who could be better than Alicia Keys to sing a tribute to the legendary Etta James – in collaboration with blues icon Bonnie Raitt. Giddy up, Chris Martin fangirl! Coldplay is on for a duet with Rihanna!

Grammy sets a high bar this year in terms of performance, way before the big night arrives.I still get goosebumps remembering Lady Gaga ft. Sugarland’s heartbreakingly amazing version of You & I. Hopefully the top notch performances make it up for the cut of categories Grammy did.

The ladies we are most excited about: Adele & Lady Gaga

2012 Grammy will witness Adele’s very first performance after her vocal cord surgery – an unfortunate event for the songbird right in time of her glorious year. Adele is going to captivate Grammy and tell everyone just why she and her ’21′ deserve 6 prestigious noms.

Lady Gaga has been in a low-key recently, with public questioning of her ‘ordinary’ outfits when captured by paparazzi lenses. Would 2012 Grammy mark just another outrageous outfit by Gaga, much like her egg conundrum last year? We really can’t wait to see. Katy Perry will grace the red carpet bringing her full-force quirks too, we say. Post-divorce questions? She shall brave through all!

The killer collaborations

Etta James’ passing is a grief for music industry, but the homage that Alicia Keys & Bonnie Raitt will be paying is sure to be a performance of a lifetime. There is not much details on Coldplay & Rihanna combo, but we are expecting no less than something epic. In the country side, Glen Campbell who is suffering from Alzheimer will be performing with country star Blake Shelton and country sensation The Band Perry.

The legends

Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney are performing. ‘Nuff said.

1960s is back: Beach Boys!

‘Everybody’s gone surfin’/ Surfin’ USA’ Damn right baby, Beach Boys are back! The boys are scheduled for all-boy mashups with Grammy noms Maroon5 & Foster The People.

A win for Nicki Minaj?

The Band Perry, Bon Iver, J. Cole, rapper Nicki Minaj, and dubstep rising star Skrillex are running for the Best New Artist. Do you think ‘Superbad’ will be on Grammy loudspeakers this Monday morning? We think so!

A ‘leaner’ Grammy Awards 2012

Grammy cut a significant number of categories – from 109 to 78. The genre R&B, among others, is suffering from the cut – with 4 current categories from the previous 8.
