Fancy a homemade mask?

There’s something about putting food on our faces that makes it an experience to be savoured. Rather than using facial masks that are drenched in chemicals, why not try something more au naturel?

Okay, that was our vain attempt to sound posh.

Anyhow, instead of baring your body (of course, you’re welcome to do this within your private confines), mash up your very own face mask to use with our handy list of natural ingredients and recipes (also in private please — we don’t want to scare off the neighbours).

Avocado Oil - The fatty acids in avocados help balance your skin moisture levels and give you a dose of anti-oxidant vitamins A, C, and E to protect your skin from damage.

Egg Facials – Tightens pores, but has a drying effect on skin.

Milk - The lactic acid in milk serves as a gentle skin exfoliant and the fat acts as a moisturizer. Alleviates redness and calm irritated skin.

Oatmeal - Soothing and anti-inflammatory. Great for moisturising and has anti-aging properties.

Apple Cider Vinegar - Apple cider vinegar keeps skin supple. It’s heavy concentration of enzymes helps peel off dead skin cells.

Olive Oil - Contains Vitamin E and antioxidants in. Great for moisturizing.

Papaya – Papayas contain an enzyme called papain which acts as a digestive aid when eaten and, when applied directly to the skin, will eat up your dead skin cells.

Pineapple – Softens the skin and fights free radical damage. Contains bromelain, a powerful anti-inflammatory and cleansing agent that can relieve swelling.

Orange – Packed with Vitamin C and anti-oxidants.

Cucumber – Has anti-inflammatory quality that can reduce swelling, soothe and soften skin tissue. Great source of silica which strengthens skin’s collagen.

Avocado - Powerful anti-aging combo of Vitamin C and Vitamin E. High fat content moisturizes and prevents drying. The sterolin found in the oil can reduce age spots, heal sun damage and scars and increases the collagen in your skin.

Aloe – Reduces wrinkles, stretch marks and pigmentation. Slows the aging of skin by delivering oxygen to your cells while still allowing the skin to breathe and perspire normally. Amazing skin cell rejuvenator known for treating burns and sunburns. Shrinks warts and reduces psoriasis.
