Fashion Friday: Woven Necklace

The new headturner is made from the humble handicraft technique we mastered back in school!

Women and braids are like inseparable magnets that bind them together. Back in the days, it was Heidi the mountain girl, and in modern fashion Alexander Wang started the side braid trend, followed with the more recent herringbone hairdo. Braid takes over designers’ brains now that the wonderful wickerwork appears on bib necklaces.

Woven necklace as the elongation of tribal trend is the next ‘it’ accessories you should lay your hands on. Wait for the stores to get crazy about them, or DIY them stat: it’s your call. Much like the multi-coloured friendship bracelet, the woven necklace lends the classic braiding technique to the normal chain necklace. They come in both neutral shades that resemble hemp rope, and the neon hues that we girls can’t get enough of. Just like other bib necklaces, woven ones are meant to pop on your monotonous outfits. Match it with buttoned-up shirt for the hipster look, plonk in more tribal accessories for a day out at Publika, or sneak it into the meeting room with your ladylike peplum ensemble.
