Malaysia Airlines MH17 Reportedly Crashed In Ukraine

(Update 1) – Ukraine Prime Minister has ordered for investigation into the crash. As Malaysian Prime Minister tweeted his shock at the news and immediate investigation. Images of possible wreckage are circulating on Twitter.


A Malaysia Airlines plane flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur has reportedly crashed after being shot down in eastern Ukraine, near the Russian border, reports Interfax news agency (source: Telegraph).

It is understood that the flight number MH17, carrying 295 people on board departed from Amsterdam at 12.14am local time and was expected to arrive in Malaysia at 6.10am local time (source: The Independent UK).

While reports are still pending confirmation from the relevant authorities, Malaysia Airlines has confirmed over Twitter that it has lost contact of MH17 and its last known position was over the Ukrainian airspace.

It must be stressed that this is the preliminary information for now. More updates as soon as there’s confirmed reports.
