When we first got word that TOMS was coming to Malaysia, excitement bubbled inside us because it’s been a long wait for TOMS to finally come this side of the world. The store opened in July and today, it was the official opening of the very first store in Malaysia at Pavilion.
If you’ve not yet heard of the brand, they were founded in 2006 and is a for-profit company based on their innovative One for One business model. Giving is the heart of TOMS. Their aim is to be in business to help improve lives by identifying global needs and create products to help address them. TOMS is short for ‘Tomorrow’s Shoes’.
With every pair of shoes that you purchase, TOMS will give a new pair of shoes to a child in need. Hence, One for One. It’s an amazing cause with the founders having big hearts for people and giving back. TOMS have given shoes to over 70 countries around the world, providing over 35 million pairs of new shoes, aptly called ‘Giving Shoes‘ (in multiple styles suitable for the different climates and terrains) to children in need.
TOMS didn’t stop giving back with just shoes. They also have an eyewear collection, which was launched in 2011. The idea of TOMS Eyewear is basically to give sight. So far, they have done so in 13 countries and helped restore sight to over 250,000 people. TOMS Sight Giving invests in clinics, hospitals and the people who work for them.
With every pair of eyewear purchased from TOMS, they will help give sight to a person in need. Again, honing on their philosophy of One for One. TOMS Eyewear is available for both Men and Women. Retail prices for the eyewear start from RM399 onwards.
Malaysians can now join in this effort to make a socially conscious choice and give back while shopping. TOMS all vegan shoe collection are available in Men, Women and Children. Retail prices for the TOMS Youth & Tiny collection start from RM139 onwards. The Men and Women collection will retail from RM189 onwards.
This Saturday, 6th September, TOMS is having a special ‘Style Your Sole’ event at their store, where you can purchase a pair of blank TOMS and have one of their special artists to create a one-of-a-kind pair just for you! The artists participating are Nini Marini (Marini Ramlan), Katun and Melanie Bayoud.
