IKEA Opens Second Outlet In Cheras!

After so many years of us having IKEA in Mutiara Damansara, it’s indeed exciting news to hear that IKEA has finally spread its wings a little further.

IKEA has confirmed that they will be opening a new IKEA store in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur. The store is set to open by the end of 2015 and it will be located on Jalan Cochrane. The new store also marks their second outlet to be launched in Malaysia.

IKEA opened its first store in Malaysia at 1 Utama Shopping Mall some years back in 1996. With the support of Malaysian fans and customers, they grew from strength to strength and eventually moved to their standalone store in Mutiara Damansara in 2003. That made huge news as that IKEA store was the biggest IKEA store in Asia at that time.

Continuing on from that legacy, IKEA’s upcoming store in Cheras will be its biggest ever store in Malaysia! The overall store will be 20% larger than the IKEA Damansara.

The opening of IKEA Cheras is part of the brand’s overall expansion plan across Southeast Asia in order to make well-designed and functional Swedish home furnishings affordable and accessible to the public.

The development is currently ongoing as IKEA focuses on the interior fittings and operational setup of the store. Further details will be unveiled in the upcoming months.
