First Look : Atria Shopping Gallery

The day has come and as the doors opened this morning, we finally got first dibs on checking out the much-anticipated rebirth of the new Atria Shopping Gallery.

The new neighbourhood mall will be adding pizzaz to the local neighbourhood scene. Spanning across the 5.5 acres of freehold land, the mall has been given a massive facelift, making it the next big thing in neighbourhood lifestyle malls. With a net lettable space of 470,000 square feet and a total of 392 units for the upcoming small offices, flexible offices (aka SoFo) coming up by the fourth quarter of this year, it’s definitely making its presence known.

Neighbourhood malls are all about adding value and bringing services to the community. From what we’ve seen today, it looks promising with a good variety of tenants. At present, there is a 65% tenancy occupancy rate in the mall, with the plans to have up to 85% of tenancy occupancy by the end of June 2015, with more to follow later on. Among the tenants, we discovered that 30% of the tenants are food & beverage, which means there will be more choices for people to choose from. Excellent for those working and living in the area. For more information on the tenants, see the list here.

Upon entering the carpark, it was clean, well lit, signages were clear and there are 1,700 car parking slots available.

Out of which, 23 of the car park slots are allocated for families with children, 21 of the car park slots are specifically designated for the disabled and as for single ladies, there are 120 car park slots allocated. The plan is to have approximately 500 car park slots to be leased out for offices which still leaves a decent number of 1,200 car park slots available for the public.

There are no travelators for use but there are escalators easily accessible and for those with strollers and wheelchairs, there are lifts available. As the mall has just opened its doors, some lifts are still being prepared and work maintenance is still on-going but be patient, it’ll all come together soon.

Atria Shopping Gallery comprises of four floors in total. The Information Counter can be located at the Concourse Level. There, you can find wheelchairs and strollers for rent. Currently, there are 2 wheelchairs and 4 strollers available. You can register to rent the wheelchairs and strollers at the Information Counter.

If you need a Floor Directory map, it can be obtained at the Information Counter. When we asked questions, we were glad to find that the staff based at the Information Counter are well-informed of the mall and its services. Each floor is equipped with toilets, disables toilets as well as changing facilities for mothers with babies.

There are 3 ATM machines available in the mall, one from RHB and the other two are from CIMB. Two of the ATM machines can be found on the Concourse Level and the other ATM machine is located on the Ground Floor. We were glad to find that all ATM machines are already in operation.

As for the anchor tenants such as Village Grocer, Taste Enclave and CHi Fitness, it’s looking good too. If you’re looking to join a gym, CHi Fitness has got some great opening offers running from now till the 31st of May 2015. There’s no joining fee and it’s a monthly fee of RM149 for the home gym membership. If you want the passport membership, it’s RM169. Comprising of almost 12,000 square feet of space, it’s the second biggest CHi Fitness around.

For educational needs, the very first of its kind is The Little Tree House, a joint collaboration between OSK Ventures Investment and HELP Education Berhad aiming to provide holistic and enrichment programs for children aged 4-6 years of age. The program is a blend of British and Malaysian preschool curriculum. The Little Tree House will be open in June.

No mall is complete without entertainment for children. Jungle Gym is also setting up its home here. With 12,000 square feet of space, it’s going to be a big, fun space for children. They have a party room available for rent and we were also told that there will be a party store in there too.

To celebrate the opening of Atria Shopping Gallery, many of the tenants are offering special offers and opening promotion discounts, buy 1 free 1 offers, etc. on their wares. Shoppers will also receive a complimentary Atria designer tote bag with a minimum purchase of RM350 (a maximum of 2 receipts).

With the school holidays coming up next week, the mall is hosting a range of activities called “ROAR In Style This School Holiday”. The mall is set to rock the neighbourhood of Damansara Jaya with its plentiful offerings and we are certainly looking forward to more things to come.
