World Ocean Day is on the 8th of June and every year, this special day takes place annually to raise awareness of the importance of the sea as a vital ecosystem and to take action to preserve its delicate habitats and wildlife.
World Ocean Day was created in 1992 and it was made official by the United Nations in 2009. This year, La Mer takes inspiration from the sea and is sharing its Blue Heart through a commitment to support the protection of ocean habitats for the future generations to come.
La Mer has long supported ocean conservation efforts for the past decade, and this year, La Mer continues its global partnership with the National Geographic Society and the Society’s next generation of ocean explorers. In 2015, La Mer will support two new explorers: Dr. David Gruber and Shannon Switzer.
In addition to that, La Mer is proud to continue its support of National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence Dr. Sylvia Earle, renowned for bringing the importance of healthy ocean habitats to the forefront of conservation movements worldwide.
With the sea being the inspiration for La Mer, the brand has established its year-round philanthropic mission – the Blue Heart. This is to raise awareness of the need to protect and explore the ocean. The sea is close to La Mer’s heart as it’s an integral part of La Mer’s heritage, and as a brand, they are committed to celebrating the beauty and bounty of the ocean.
To commemorate World Oceans Day, a 100ml jar of Crème de la Mer with a new limited-edition design will be available through the month of June 2015. For the first time, the jar design will be inscribed with ‘Blue Heart’ to communicate the brand’s ongoing goal of supporting the protection of the blue heart of our planet and the ocean.
La Mer World Oceans Day 2015 (100ml) retails for RM1,750.
