Top 6 Ice Cream Parlours/ Cafes in Klang Valley

If there’s one thing everyone loves it is ICE CREAM! Although sometimes you may feel like you want something different from the usual ice cream cone.

So we went around looking for some of the best ice cream parlours or cafes in the Klang Valley. In no particular order, here are some ice cold treats to break the heat.

1. Bean Reserve

The Bean Reserve is run by the people responsible for Brewman in Solaris Mont Kiara. Located in a hidden spot in Bangsar at 8 Lengkok Abdullah, near Menara UOA is the nicely designed cafe.  We’ve heard some buzz over their soft serve ice cream, so it was a must to add to this list.

Of course, we had their signature Affogato, as well as their Cereal Milk Soft Serve Ice Cream. It was an absolutel delight.  The texture of the ice creams were smooth and creamy, not too sweet and yes, they put a smile on our faces. The Affogato met our expectations, combining the creamy smooth ice cream with a shot of espresso; the taste was delightful with the espresso adding another level of richness to the already creamy treat.

Though it was slightly disappointing that they didn’t have another flavour when we were there and the cereal ice cream was exactly the same as the Affogato, just without the espresso.

We also had their Signature Nitro-Coffee (Nitrogen infused coffee), which was light, smooth, complimented our ice creams well, and a perfect drink for a hot day.

2. Sangkaya

Sangkaya has been around for a while, and is quite popular for its signature Coconut ice cream – their tagline is “Nuts For Coconuts” after all.  Served in a half coconut shell with shaved out coconut flesh at the bottom and topped by four (golf ball sized) scoops of coconut ice cream and toppings of your choice.

If you’re thinking that’s a lot of Coconuts, you’re right, but the whole serving was well balanced in flavor and surprisingly refreshing.

They also have a Thai Milk Tea-infused coconut ice cream, Cha Yen, in homage to Thailand’s favorite drink.

Sangkaya has outlets in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Melaka, Penang, Seremban and Johor Baharu. Outlet info can be found here.

6B, Ground Floor,
Jalan Telawi 2, Bangsar Baru,

3. Inside Scoop

If you’re looking for more flavours to try, head over to Inside Scoop Bangsar. The variety is amazing with unique flavours to try, from Nutty Nutella to their signature Durian ice creams.

We tried their signature Durian as well as the Peanut Butter & Jelly ice creams. If you’re a durian lover, this ice cream is for you. It’s creamy in texture and well balance in flavour, that wasn’t too sweet. The PB&J ice cream was more conventional in texture, but great in flavour, which would delight the kids. Overall, Inside Scoop has well balanced ice creams that aren’t too sweet making them just right.

You can also have your Inside Scoop Ice Cream on a Waffle.

Inside Scoop also has outlets in Damansara Jaya and Taipan USJ.

4. Whimsical Gelateria & Caffe by Cielo Dolci

Located in Solaris Publika behind the main mall itself, Whimsical Gelateria & Caffe has some great treats for its customers. First of all they serve Gelato. And who doesn’t like gelato? Available to be served in a cup, cone or on a waffle.

They’ve an array of interesting flavours such as Matcha & Earl Grey tea, Café Latte, Salted Caramel and many more. We tried their Matcha & Earl Grey as well as the Café Latte. The ice creams were absolutely wonderful.

We also had their Signature Cotton Candy Affogato, Coconut & Gula Melaka Ice Cream Topped with Cotton Candy and of course a side shot of espresso, an absolute delight to have.

To find the outlet head to the second floor of the mall and walk out towards the shoplots on the outside.  Whimsical Gelateria & Caffe is located opposite Namoo on The Park.

5. Softsrve

Softsrve in Damansara Uptown is constantly packed at night, so we had to see what all the hype is about. They’ve four flavours which are Cereal, Teh Tarik, Oolong Cha and Deep Chocolate. Served plain or with a topping of your choice, each flavour has a list of toppings that go with it.

The ice cream is served in a smaller cup holding the ice cream inside a larger cup with dried ice. The result was an aesthetically beautiful ice cold creamy goodness. The perfect icing to end a hot day.

Unfortunately the Fluffy topping on the Cereal Flavoured Ice Cream wasn’t as aesthetically pleasing as the one at Whimsical Gelateria & Caffe.

6. Fat Baby

The Ice Cream Parlour with an adorable name. You know this one is going to be good. Fat Baby Ice Cream Parlour is located in Subang close to INTI University. They are only open 3 Days a week, Friday, Saturday & Sunday – from 2PM onwards.

Looking at the Menu, we had to try the Fan Favorite. The name of the flavour is “Honey, I’m Home” –  swirled honeycomb pieces and Belgian milk chocolate in Fat Baby’s sweet cream ice cream. We had a single scoop on a crisp waffle. The Ice Cream itself was smooth and the honeycomb bits were nice to bite into.

Other flavours from this ice cream parlour are Madagascar Vanilla Bean (their Vanilla Ice Cream), Berry White (sweet cream ice cream with strawberry jam and white chocolate chip), Apple Crumble, Coconut Candy and many more delicious flavours.

Fat Baby also has a ginormous Ice Cream Sandwich made with 4 scoops of ice cream sandwiched between 2 of their delicious waffles, topped with banana slices and yet another scoop of ice cream. They call this “Get Stuffed” and with good reason – by the end of this we were definitely stuffed.
