6 Favourite Moments at Malaysia Fashion Week

Here is a recap of our favorite fashion moments at Malaysia Fashion Week 2015 November 4-7 2015:

Malaysia Fashion Week 2015 has just ended it’s three day run at Matrade Exhibition & Convention Center with much pomp and circumstance; from trade exhibitions to fashion shows, showcasing over 100 local and regional fashion designers/labels.

Since 100 pictures would be overkill, here are 6 fashion pieces that made the Venusbuzz team debate endlessly:

    1. That Wig-Hat Combination

Is it a wig? Is it a hat? Does it come in Asian black hair? So elegant, yet so quirky. We love it!

From: Whee up by Whee Jin (Korea)

    2. That Face Mask

The Venusbuzz team had a love-hate relationship with this flower inspired outfit. The mask was beautiful enough to stop us from Instagramming our shoes… but we wished that the accompanying dress have more structure.

    From: Emma Rachman (Singapore)

    3. That Teddy Bear

Fairuz Ramdan is undoubtedly a fan favorite, having won awards almost yearly since he launched his menswear label in 2011.

Finally branching out to womenswear in 2015, he has translated his popular polo tees designs to female-friendly proportions. Our favorite accessory is undoubtedly the teddy bear necklace.

    From: Fairuz Ramdan (Malaysia)

    4. That Jacket

Interesting yet elegant. Perfect outerwear for a day-to-night outfit.

    From: Jihnoy (Korea)

    5. That Outfit

    Artistic and well-crafted.

    From: Yuna Yun (Singapore)

    6. That Entire Collection

Venusbuzz team’s favorite menswear collection from the entire show. With a heavy emphasis on nature and comfort (it is the Spring/Summer collection after all), we liked the floral knee length coat the most.

Top 5 Trick Art Museums In Malaysia

Trick art has never become more fun and it has literally brought art to the masses in a fun, interactive way.

If you don’t know what trick art is all about, it’s also known as the ancient art of “tromple-l’oeil”, which in French means to deceive the eye. According to Wikipedia, it is an art technique that uses realistic imagery to create the optical illusion that the depicted objects exist in three dimensions.

In some forms of trick art, it is also considered 3D art and the 3D factor is observed in terms of its height, width and depth. Sculpture, for example, is a form of three-dimensional art.

There are many forms of 3D art and trick art. Some of the more popular trick art pieces can be found on the streets of Ipoh and Penang. Some of which you probably may have seen on your friends’ social media posts.

Recently, trick art museums have grown in huge popularity. If you’ve not been to one, go pay a visit the nearest one to you and you’ll understand the fun, the hilarity and even, the wonder of it all. It may bring out the child in you! A great bonus is that you’ll get some terrific photos (not to mention conversation starters) out of it.

Here are the Top 5 Trick Art Museums In Malaysia:

    1. Trick Art Museum, i-City, Shah Alam

Trompe l’oeil has thrilled many people since this place opened at i-City in Shah Alam. The museum boasts 8,000 square feet of space and has 2 floors of delights for you to explore.

The New Atria Shopping Gallery Is Opening Soon!

Who remembers Atria Shopping Centre in Damansara Jaya? If you happen to live in the area, you’ll be glad to know that the new Atria Shopping Gallery is set to open its doors come 28th May 2015!

A lot of us have some fond memories of the neighbourhood mall in Damansara Jaya since it’s opening in the 1980’s where it housed departmental stores such as the good old Kimisawa and who can forget, the French Printemps? It was the place to be at, especially the infamous Piccadilly discotheque who were also famed for “tea parties” on Saturday afternoons with many teenagers in its heyday.

It was packed and frequented with good reason. It was centrally located in an area with many offices and neighbours filled with families. It had favourites like KFC, Esquire Kitchen, a supermarket to get necessities, boutiques, Guardian pharmacy, CD shops, and it even a Popular Bookstore at some point.

Well, the end of an era happened when it closed its doors a few years ago. Previously owned by Lien Hoe Corporation, the place now belongs to OSK Property Holdings Berhad and they have revamped it with some exciting things in store, such as the much anticipated unique roof garden alfresco, which is slated to be its main attraction.

The new place is rather large, a 450,000 sq feet of net lettable space to be exact. Anchor tenants like Village Grocer, Taste Enclave and CHi Fitness, along with a host of other food and beverage outlets will be very popular for a lot of people who work and live in that area.

Dynasty Dragon Chinese Restaurant which was previously from SS2 Mall is also making its new home at Atria Shopping Gallery. The restaurant will be occupying a space of 25,000 sq feet, making it ideal for wedding banquets and celebratory dinners.

When it comes to retail, fashion, lifestyle needs, including a clinic and education centres for children, well, they have it pretty much covered as well. See the list below for more details:

Raya Fashion Heats Up With The New Jovian Mandagie Collection For ZALORA

Time passes fast these days and what do you know, Raya is coming up in a couple of months!

Festive seasons mean it’s a great time to get shopping for some new threads. ZALORA has recently unveiled an exclusive collection from Jovian Mandagie during a private showcase event at Damansara Performing Arts Centre (DPAC Theatre).

Jovian Mandagie for ZALORA, brought to you by Maybank, features 63 looks that incorporate the Art-Deco theme for Raya 2015. It has a late-twenties feel and bold architectural graphics, making this collection one of kind and ideal from someone looking for something with a modern twist this Raya season.

The collection features earthy and rich colors, setting it apart from its previous collection. Beading and geometric lines also show its presence this season with silhouettes of the Baju Kurung Pahang, Baju Kurung Kedah, A-Line, Mermaid Cut and the label’s signature Peplum shape have made an infinite impact of sophistication to the array. Strong paneling and piping give the clothes an elegant modern finish.

Every designer has a muse and this year, Jovian Mandagie teamed up with Luna Maya, the renowned stylish Indonesian actress to represent the collection and to be his muse. The actress is said to love the new collection saying, “It gives the feel of a true fashionista and suits any kind of woman with its luxurious and exotic touch.”

Prices of this collection range from RM430 to RM600, keeping in theme with ZALORA’s main aim of keeping fashion affordable. The collection is now available on ZALORA.com.my and in Jovian stores in May.

There’s also good news for Maybank cardholders as you can now enjoy an exclusive 26% off* this collection and across zalora.com.my for their first purchase (discount code: M26BANK) and 21% off* storewide for their subsequent purchases (discount code M21BAK). Terms and Conditions apply.
