5 Steps to Deal with Working Life Anxiety

Feeling exhausted in bed but it takes you hours to sleep? You are anxious. There are times when thoughts wake me up in the middle of the night, forcing me to think at such weird wee hours. Another time, I would forget to do the simplest errand in barely 5 minutes after I was determined to get it done. Talking to others is no longer a pleasant pastime because half the time I would be counting the remaining free hours I have before work beckons. Waking up exhausted, being tortured by stiff shoulders throughout the day, and at the end of the day – finding out that you have missed…

Constantly Checking Emails Linked to Stress

Monday, huh? Yes, as we venture into another work week, let’s keep this in mind – obsessively checking work emails and smartphones will only bring up the level of stress. Kuala Lumpur is now the 74th most expensive city to live in, rising 12 spots from 86th last June, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). The EIU also revealed to the Malaysian Insider that KL’s cost of living index rose from 67th in June, 2009, which was just after Datuk Seri Najib Razak took over as prime minister, to 83rd this month, a jump of 16 points or 23 per cent. In other words, we pay 83% of what New Yorkers pay to eat, live and sleep every day. The sad part of this equation is that we don’t earn anywhere near 83% of what our American counterparts do. As…

    Say No to Debts!

The first-world problem people still struggle from I am quite proud to say that I’ve managed to pay off the rather large credit card debt that I accumulated in my early 20s, and now, in my 30s, I’m much more careful with my spending. I’ve learnt that if you don’t want to get into trouble, you must never spend beyond your means, for example, now I only use my credit card for necessities and I make sure that I pay my bill in full. While reading up on credit cards do’s and don’ts recently, I came across some excellent tips from Dr Susan McCarthy, a financial adviser and author of…
