ZALORA, one of Asia’s most popular online fashion store unveiled an exclusive new collection during a private showcase event yesterday.
PRIDE Collection by Jovian Mandagie for ZALORA is brought to you by Bank Simpanan Nasional and the collection features 18 looks that incorporate the symbolic pink ribbon in support of breast cancer awareness.
ZALORA is proud and honoured to be part of the Pink Ribbon Deeds (PRIDE) Foundation. All profits from the collection will aid in cancer research and treatment efforts for breast cancer patients. ZALORA hopes to raise over RM150,000.00 for the cause. We were informed that both ZALORA and Jovian Mandagie will not may profits from this launch. Their main goal is to generate as much public awareness to PRIDE’s cause.
Today, at the exclusive launch, socialites and local celebrities such as Liyana Jasmay, Megan Tan, Serena C, Vanessa Chong, Pamela Chong and Nadine Ann Thomas, to name a few, showed their support to the cause. The event also showcased and celebrated some of PRIDE’s breast cancer survivors in honour of their resilience and strength against the illness.
We had the privilege to meet with some of the breast cancer survivors and we were truly inspired by their grace and strength. One of them told us this, which to us, really struck home. She said, “Count your life with the smiles and not the tears.” That simple sentence sums up the courage, tenacity and the spirit of grace when faced with storms. It is such an encouragement to see that despite what they’ve gone through, they can still be positive. It reminds us that no matter what one faces, we can always survive it and survive it well.
Jovian Mandagie dedicated this collection to the strong and courageous survivors of breast cancer. The collection comprises of an array of beautiful blouses, skirts and dresses that feature the significant pink ribbon in detailing and embellishments, ranging from prices RM 200 to RM 400 each.
The collection is the outcome of the combined efforts of ZALORA, Jovian Mandagie, PRIDE and Bank Simpanan Nasional. These four entities came together to generate awareness and funds for breast cancer research. For every piece bought, ZALORA will contribute RM40.00 to PRIDE and to their cause.
PRIDE Collection by Jovian Mandagie for ZALORA is now available on ZALORA and in Jovian stores.
H&M set Kuching ablaze with its Grand Opening earlier today.
With rapid growth of stores across the country, H&M finally opened its doors to their fans in East Malaysia today. Their mission is to bring the hottest trends and affordable fashion to the public all over Malaysia. Armed with this mission, H&M continues to set its stride in the fashion scene and the brand hopes to introduce more stores across the nation in more convenient locations.
H&M at The Spring is a massive space. It occupies 33,000 square feet and it’s a one-stop-shop for everything one would need. From clothes for women (they even have a small but decent maternity section), men and children to accessories, shoes and the H&M Home, which recently made its debut in Kuala Lumpur. One could spend hours, if not the whole day browsing through its vast selections of heavenly delights H&M has to offer.
To commemorate this momentous occasion, H&M gave out prizes to their early birds this morning on opening day. The first in the queue received a gift card worth RM200.00 and the next 50 shoppers were given a RM50.00 gift card. The first 200 shoppers to make a purchase on opening day would also receive an exclusive tote bag.
And if that isn’t exciting enough, shoppers who visit the store from opening till the 1st of November 2014 will enjoy 10% off their entire purchase with a minimum spend of RM150.00 in a single receipt. Quite an opening reception, we have to say.
H&M at The Spring opens daily from 10am till 10pm.
It seems like an age since Alexander Wang and H&M announced their collaboration back in April. We broke the news of the collaboration then with eager anticipation.
Today, we got an exclusive preview of this long-anticipated collection. The full range of clothes and accessories are finally here. And, we have to say that it’s not just cool, but it’s sporty, and yet boundary-pushing as anything we imagine would walk down Wang’s illustrious runway.
To an extent, we knew what was coming — we’d gathered bits and pieces from the designer’s instagram and when Rhiana turned up at New York Fashion Week dressed in the casual attire, it was a very tangible sneak-peek to the look of what there is come. But, when we saw the collection today, words almost failed us. It exceeded all expectations and blew it out of the park!
The line is broken up into several categories: Athletic performance wear, Essentials, Outerwear, Accessories and Objects:
Athletic performance wear
Wang’s debut performance wear pieces include quick-dry black running tops and perforated laser cut shorts, each bonded and branded with Alexander Wang in silver mesh. Seamless performance T-shirts, tank tops, crop tops and sports bras also feature the Alexander Wang logo on the back or on the wide bands of elastic. Compression crop tops, tights, dresses and bra tops also make an appearance in this line, playing with logos in different scales.
In this exclusive collection, the performance details are used to create fashion pieces, such as the scuba dress with interwoven layers and a cut out at the waist with mixed fabrics. Alexander Wang’s signature experimentation with fabric innovation is seen throughout the collection, especially with the black foam injected crocodile patterned sweatshirt. Wang´s understanding of the urban uniform is seen in this styling and creation of the black scuba motorbike sweats and black leather track pants with tear-away snaps down the sides.
Technical outerwear offers utilitarian protection, such as a black seamless welded water-repellent parka with a moulded hood curved like a baseball cap. Coats are an important winter essential, and of course, the ultimate essential for winter is the classic black motorcycle jackets. But these ones come both oversized in scuba wool and as a quilted leather puffer, setting it apart from the usual take on these jackets.
Long scuba gloves, stamped with a reflective logo, jacquard beanies and compression socks with graphic logo treatment complete the outerwear look. Shoes, boots, sneakers and leather backpacks took our breath away with the unique touches synonymous to the Alexander Wang signature look.
To represent the scale of the Alexander Wang lifestyle and injecting a sense of humor, the collection also includes a range of objects – a yoga mat, a water bottle, towels, sunglasses with oversized head strap and swim goggles. There are both actual size boxing gloves and those as a mini key-ring, a whistle on a two-finger ring, and for the victor, a magnetised Alexander Wang trophy cup. Very cool indeed.
But, enough talk. The collection is now yours for the ogling and as for the taking and buying, be ready to grab this fabulous collection come 6th November. H&M X Alexander Wang Collection will be available at H&M Lot 10 and H&M Avenue K.
Net-A-Porter announced longtime CEO is set to retire and what a grand farewell he got.
After 11 years at the helm, Net-a-Porter CEO, Mark Sebba is retiring. Net-a-Porter is an online high-end fashion retailer that operates in the style of a magazine.
“I am stepping down at a time when the company is stronger than ever,” he was quoted as saying to WWD. “We have built a team of world-class writers, communicators, buyers, innovators, digital pioneers, distribution experts and more who form the foundations and DNA of this company.”
It is this team of strong workforce that will miss him the most.
As such, his colleagues decided to throw him the most epic send-off we’ve seen thus far.
On his final day at Net-a-Porter’s office in Westfield Shopping Centre in London, Sebba was greeted by the entire staff lining-up across the whole office to sing along to Aloe Blacc’s ‘The Man’ in reference to the CEO.
Video footage of employees in Net-a-Porter’s global offices in Manhattan, New Jersey, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Charlton was also presented to him.
It seems everyone was eager to pay tribute to the man who have led the company to great success in the last decade.
Fashionable doll? You bet!
Fame Chanel’s head designer, Karl Lagerfeld is said to be in the works with Mattel Inc. to produce Barbie Lagerfeld.
No. Not Ken, but a Barbie in his own image!
The Lagerfeld Barbie doll will be released later this year in limited edition as part of Mattel’s Barbie Collector series.
Initial sketch reveals that the Kaiser has given Barbie his signature grey ponytail, cool shades, fingerless gloves and pointy ankle boots.
Oh, how high fashion!
Now we wonder if the finished product will come with her own miniature Choupette?

Trendy as these may be, flatforms have been dubbed as dangerous footwear.
You may have seen those platform hybrids around and you may even own a pair or two, but experts are warning that this is one fashion fad that you shouldn’t fall into!
While the retro-looking footwear may feel comfy enough for daily wear, the fact is the flatform is an accident waiting to happen! The elevated form and inflexible sole are two dangerous features that make walking on uneven surfaces hazardous.
Flatform-related injuries have been reported in fashionistas (think torn ligament and twisted ankles!) as navigating your way in these shoes is a tricky affair.
If you put all your weight into one point of your foot like the area around the big toe, it can be bad for your ‘foot fitness’. It could cause ankles to collapse inward and lead to swelling or even a fall.
To master the art of flatform, you’re advised to distribute your weight across your toes for better balance or in your heels to keep the ankles strong.

This collection of interesting-looking shoes might possibly the comfiest heels ever.
Ah, high heels — that one footwear that looks so good but hurts so bad. Though, all that might seem to be a thing of the past with the help of Silvia Fado Moreno.
A London College of Fashion graduate, Moreno’s latest creations are part of her ‘Kinetic Traces’ collection – a series of hydraulic heels created with both form and function in mind.
Looking like something out of a sci-fi movie (and perfectly fit for Lady Gaga), these heels promise to help you kick away the pain and discomfort associated with most high heels.
Having studied and analysed elements of comfort in footwear, Moreno has successfully found a perfect balance between impact absorption, shoe weight, traction and upper durability. She then added in elements like springs and rubber balls to cushion every step.
The results are a high heels lover’s dream come true. As the wearer takes a step, each of these components works together under their body weight to create a natural balance in movement.
“I sought to bring these concepts into the design of high-end women’s high heels,” shares the innovative designer.
Apart from the technical aspect of the design, Moreno also incorporated materials like leather, metal, wood-work, as well as the latest in laser cutting, 3D milling and printing – resulting in super trendy footwear.
Nonetheless, these designs are currently part of an art project, but hopes they may inspire a commercial product in the future. Oh Ms. Moreno, the VenusBuzz.com team hopes so too!
