tvN K-POP Star Hunt Search in Malaysia

FOX International Channels (FIC) and HyppTV present the new season of tvN K-Pop Star Hunt for the first time in Malaysia!

Ever fancied that you had the makings of a K-pop star? Do you have the killer dance moves? Or have a thing for crazy coloured hair? Have you perfected that wink that bring all the boys to your yard? Are you..the next K-Pop star?

If you answered ‘yes!’ to the above, then we like to be the bearer of good news –  tvN HD, which is available on HyppTV channel 142, is teaming up with CJ E&M – Korea’s No.1 Media and Entertainment Company and CUBE Entertainment – the most promising entertainment management company in Asia – to select the most outstanding contestants from Malaysia and across 8 other territories in South East Asia to be the next K-Pop Star.

The Malaysian auditions will take place in September and the winner for this talent search will receive an exclusive trainee contract from Korea’s biggest media group CJ E&M and CUBE Entertainment together with an official album release and a debut stage performance at Korea’s leading international music award show, the 2013 MAMA.

The first season of tvN K-Pop Star Hunt was widely popular in Asia, attracting the eyeballs of over 50 million viewers. Countless popular K-stars will be featured every week, mentoring the contestants, performing in the show and even taking the judging roles. Last year, tvN K-Pop Star Hunt winner Thai-native Sorn bagged an exclusive trainee contract with South Korea’s top record label Cube Entertainment, home to A-list pop groups such as BEAST, 4Minute and female artiste G.NA. Thanks to the reality series, Sorn has soared to stardom and has moved to Seoul for her debut album training.

To knock on the audition door, all you need to do is begin practicing and start filming. Start uploading video submissions of your best K-Pop sing and/or dance routines to the official website. K-Pop fans of any age will have until 31 August 2012 to upload their video submissions.

Start sending in those auditions! There are some pretty good ones already and we like this one by Moo Didi in particular, doing a ukulele version of 2NE1′s Lonely.

Good luck to all contestants, let’s have a Malaysian K-Pop star!

In Malaysia, tvN K-Pop Star Hunt can be viewed on tvN HD exclusively on HyppTV channel 142. HyppTV, the newest IPTV service is powered by Telekom Malaysia Berhad’s (TM) high speed broadband service, UniFi. The official media partner for tvN K-Pop Star Hunt 2 is One FM and Hot FM. Disgruntled Malaysian Russell Peters Fan Banned from Facebook Page

Due to such high demands for tickets to the notorious Russell Peters sold out show in Malaysia,  the comedian graciously accommodated fans with a second show.

However, the date for the second show precedes the original show – leaving some fans who queued up early and owners of the 7,900 tickets (that were sold out within the first three hours they went on sale) on April 18, upset upon learning that they would not be among the first to watch his show in the country.

While it is uncertain whether this is the doing of the organizers or the comedian himself, a very disgruntled fan took to The Real Russell Peters Facebook page and spammed his wall, complaining about how this was unfair and that she would now be separated from her friends (apparently she managed to purchase a single ticket for the original show, and now her friends managed to get tickets for the second show).

These posts have since been removed, and according to the man himself she has been banned from his Facebook page.

There’s a mix of reactions from other fans – those that managed to get tickets for the second show think that disgruntled fans are making a big deal out of nothing, after all isn’t the most important thing that more Malaysian fans get to see Russell perform on our home ground? And then you have those who already bought tickets for the first show, saying they feel slightly cheated that they don’t get first dibs after all the effort they put in to getting the (previously) most coveted tickets in town.

It does feel like banning a fan (she’s your fan after all!) seems rather extreme, but when you’re at the top perhaps it doesn’t matter if you have to lose some fans along the way. What do you think – was he a man, did he do the right thing.

And what do you think about putting the second show at an earlier date then the first?

    Youtube’s 10 Most Watched Videos in 2011

Whether you are the animal person, the indie lover, or the LOL type – Youtube has something to keep you up all night long. This year alone, the video sharing site hits 1 trillion views.

My personal 2011 favourite must be Kina Grannis’ In Your Arms music video. Not for the musicality, but more for the mind blowing idea of making a stop motion video with a quarter million of jelly beans. The production took 2 years to complete, by the way. It is simply amazing to see how labour of love still exists in the cynical world of today.

I am not one of the trendy Youtube users, however, seeing ‘Nyan Cat’ and ‘The Creep’ making it to the 10 Most Watched Youtube Videos in 2011.

Rebecca Black’s Friday champions the list, of course. After all is said and done, no Friday has gone by without her ‘Friday’ rummaging in mind.
